KOBEE'S is the product I'd point you to if you lived in the States. It's a beautifully simple jumbo balm: about 28.3g (1 oz), four ingredients, compostable packaging, and around £16 equivalent, which is excellent value at roughly £0.57 per gram. Conceptually it's the nearest thing to The Balm anywhere.

The catch is availability. KOBEE'S is US-made and, at the time of writing, doesn't offer confirmed UK shipping. So for a British buyer it's more "the one that proves the category should exist" than a realistic purchase. If you're reading this from the US, genuinely, have a look at them. If you're in the UK, you'll likely face import faff and customs. Fair's fair: on pure size-and-price maths, it's the strongest competitor on this list.

3. Pleasing Big Lip & Cheek Tint, 14.1g (a tint, not an oversized balm)

Harry Styles' Pleasing makes a "Big Lip" product, now sold as the Big Lip & Cheek Tint at around £20 through Space NK and Selfridges. It's a nicely made, multi-use tint with a strong celebrity halo, and the shade range is lovely.

But here's the honest bit: at 14.1g it isn't actually oversized. "Big" is the product name, not a size claim. At ~£20 for 14.1g it's about £1.42 per gram, so you're paying for the brand and the prestige positioning, which is a perfectly valid thing to want. If you love the brand and want a buildable lip-and-cheek colour, it's a good buy. If you specifically came for "a big lip balm" in the literal sense, this isn't it. 4. Lanolips 101 Ointment, 15g (the multi-use ointment)

Lanolips' 101 Ointment is the cult Australian multi-balm: 15g, around £11, marketed as having "101 uses". It's 100% natural, lanolin-based, dermatologist-trusted, and genuinely good at the heavy-duty, multi-use job. At ~£0.73 per gram it's solid value, and it shows up in a lot of "best lip balm" roundups for good reason.

It's bigger than a standard stick but not oversized, and it comes as a tube ointment rather than a twist-up. Lanolin suits most people brilliantly, though a small number find it doesn't agree with them, and it's not vegan. If you like the idea of one do-everything balm and don't mind the texture, it's a strong, honest choice and a fair rival to The Balm on the multi-use angle.

5. Nuxe Rêve de Miel, 15g (the very-dry-lips classic)

Nuxe Rêve de Miel is the French-pharmacy hero: a 15g honey balm in a glass pot, around £12 to £14, built for properly dry, chapped lips. It's natural-leaning, smells of lavender honey, and has a devoted following. At roughly £0.93 per gram it's mid-pack on value.

It's a pot, not a stick, so it's a fingertip job rather than a swipe, and it's lips-focused rather than multi-use. But if your lips are the kind that crack in winter and nothing else touches them, this is a deserved classic. It's not "big" in the oversized sense, but a 15g pot will outlast a stick by a fair margin, so it earns its place in a value-and-size conversation.

6. The cheap-and-cheerful end: Dr.PAWPAW, Treat Beauty, Lip Smacker

If "big lip balm" to you means "a fun, cheap one", there's a whole tier here and there's nothing wrong with it. Dr.PAWPAW's Big Lip Balm is a Savers exclusive at around £4 to £5, 98% natural, with a Marie Curie charity tie-in, so a slice of your money does some good. It's the only "big"-named balm you'll find on a UK high street, even if it isn't truly oversized.

Treat Beauty's Jumbo (USDA certified, lots of flavours) and the Lip Smacker Biggy are fun, flavoured, and aimed at people who want a balm to enjoy rather than a skincare object. Both are US-market and mostly reach the UK via import. None of these are trying to be a premium, lasts-a-year balm, and they're priced accordingly. If you want cheap and cheerful, buy cheap and cheerful with a clear conscience.

Work backwards from what you actually want, because "big" isn't one thing.
