A fair few of you have emailed asking where the tinted balms have got to, so here is the answer properly rather than a line on a product page.
They are not ready. I have not got a launch date for you and I am not going to make one up so this post has a tidy ending.
What they are
One & Done and Cherry Stoned take the 30g balm you already know and put colour in it. Same butters and oils, same twist-up stick, for lips and cheeks.
One & Done is a warm red you can build. One swipe and it looks like you have got a bit of colour back in your face. Keep going and you are at a proper red lip. Cherry Stoned is the darker one, a black cherry that sheers down to something stained and berryish if you barely touch it.
Neither of them is 100% natural. The colour comes from cosmetic pigment, because that is how you get a red that stays a red. The Balm is the 100% natural one in the range and I would rather keep that claim where it belongs.
Why they are late
The batches were not good enough.
Pigment does odd things to a wax and butter base. It sets differently. It comes out of the tube differently. Leave it in a warm handbag for a week and it can go on differently again.
We had a problem with the surface of the sticks. We thought it was sorted, then it turned up again in July, so I held production instead of sending out a few hundred of something that would have irritated people by October.
There is nothing more interesting behind it than that.
What happens now
They have gone back to the lab to be reformulated. When a batch passes, they ship. There is a waitlist on both product pages, so you will hear before it goes anywhere else.
If you were hoping for a red in time for Christmas, I would not count on it. The Balm has not changed and it is still what I use.
